As a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) with the City of Chicago, we take pride in combining creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability in every project.
Our team of designers, carpenters, fabricators, and gardeners works collaboratively with each client to ensure a smooth process from planning through construction and ongoing care. Rooftopia transforms rooftops, patios, and backyards into functional, beautiful retreats that reflect your personal style. Jenn & Marchin & The Rooftopia Story
Rooftopia began as a bold idea shared by two creative souls who saw beauty and possibility above the city streets.
Marcin moved from Poland to Chicago at age fourteen, where his hands-on curiosity and mechanical mind flourished. He learned carpentry from his uncles, repaired vintage sewing machines with his mother, and later earned a degree in Construction Management. Skilled in fabrication and engineering, Marcin brings innovation, and a craftsman's touch to every Rooftopia project.
Jenn grew up in rural Wisconsin, surrounded by farmland and open skies that nurtured her love of nature and design. After college, her creative spirit outgrew corporate life, and she longed to reconnect people to the outdoors through artful, meaningful spaces.
When Jenn and Marcin met working in Chicago's landscape industry, their shared passion for design, sustainability, and craftsmanship sparked an instant partnership. Only a few months into dating, they decided to take a leap and start their own business - a mix of courage, insanity, creativity, and perfect timing.
In 2009, Rooftopia grew from concept to reality inside a tiny apartment surrounded by container gardens and big dreams. Their vision was simple: transform urban rooftops and backyards into vibrant outdoor sanctuaries that inspire connection, relaxation, and joy.
Today, Jenn and Marcin lead Rooftopia's talented team of designers and builders with that same spirit of innovation and care. Their work blends luxury and sustainability, turning rooftops into living retreats that celebrate both nature and city life.
When they're not designing rooftops, Jenn and Marcin can be found renovating their 1896 home in Chicago's Hermosa neighborhood, experimenting with new plants, and exploring local parks and gardens with their two daughters. Their life, like their work, is rooted in creativity, community, and a shared love of the outdoors.
